A crystal is defined as a homogenous solid, formed by a repeating three-dimensional pattern of atoms, ions, or molecules and having fixed distances between constituent parts.
Although this is a very scientific viewpoint, most of us encounter crystals daily; usually people are aware 
of prettier pieces displayed as jewellery.
Human beings have been manipulating crystals for ages, more recently in technology of watches, radios and computers for their piezoelectric & semi-conductor properties. Quartz is the most abundant mineral in the world, and commonly utilized to conduct energy current.
Within a mass of atoms, each crystal vibrates at a different frequency. Over the ages all crystals, precious and semi-precious have been found to carry vibrations that influence energy centers (commonly known as chakras) of our electro-magnetic system in constant motion within our very bodies.
Lesser known are the healing abilities of stones to affect each of the body’s energy systems physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually on subtle levels. Because of their nature and chemical composition crystals absorb, conserve, focus and emit energy, which we can use to balance and cleanse our electromagnetic fields.

The word ‘chakra’ means ‘wheel’ in Sanskrit. There are seven major chakra centers located from the base of the spine to the top of the head in the ethereal body and many minor chakras. Chakras connect us with the unlimited world of subtle energies. The major centers in the body correlate to endocrine organs in the physical body.
Prana or vital energy is the life force that flows within and through the chakras which helps in the functioning of our bodies. They have a direct connection to our physical, emotional, mental and spiritual well-being. Chakras can be over active, under active and/or in balance. Ideally they harmonize to complement energy flow from the physical body with the ethereal body. When one or more of the chakras become blocked, we feel out of alignment and ill. One self-healing meditative method of clearing the chakras is to visualize a clearing light coursing through them. Chakras can be influenced by 
practitioners using methods of healing including Reiki and nearby crystals.
Personally Eleanor has been drawn to crystal gemstones from childhood for their obvious attraction of colour and shape. Since being able to heal her own ear inflammation and pain with a small piece of snowflake obsidian, and a friend kept headaches away with rose quartz, she became more intrigued to study them and has been called to share their healing potential with others.
